UK APPENDIX TO HERDBOOK

Over the course of Dexter time in England, their registry and association ( Society)  has permitted outcrossing.  I have been compiling information from their herdbooks containing the appendix registers.   The particular records I detail here,  begin with the 1944 herd book.  There is the A appendix, the B appendix, and the C appendix, and following that, the next generation is admitted into the herdbook as a purebred animal.   For those interested in pedigree research, I will give as much information as was available in the herdbook entry.   I expect, because of the Excel format, this will be a difficult page on the website to read.  I'll try to make changes as best I can to make it more user friendly over time, but if you have any question regarding an entry or animal I will be happy to try and answer it direct.  Just send me an email.

The entries which show the herdbook volume are taken directly from the appendix records in that herdbook which is in my possession.  If there is no herdbook volume, than I do not have that herdbook in my possession, and the information on the App. number is taken from the herd records of individual breeders in later volumes, but also in my possession.

I will be filling in the blanks as time permits, so check back to the home page for dates of updates on the site.

*****  I will add this note.  Not "all" animals that were placed in the appendix registry were due to the "up-grading" program.  There were a few that ended up in the registry for other reasons, that are not listed in the herd books.

Here, copied verbatim, is the statement in the rules and regulations of the Dexter Cattle Society of the United Kingdom, regarding the grading-up appendix.
